Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is a 2017 Fantasy film starring Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Geoffrey Rush, Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario. A synopsis for the film reads: “Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar, escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas”.
The first thing I would like to say about this film is the fact that I absolutely loved it! It is clear to see it is made for the family audiences, but nonetheless it kept me entertained for two hours! It is an action filled adventure on the high seas from when Britannia ruled the waves. It has it all: action, pirates, sailors and ghosts. If you want to take your kids to this one, you will not be sorry. I really enjoyed Mr. Bardem as Captain Salazar and I believe his acting is a little bit better than the rest, but every actor gave a hundred percent for this movie and it shows!
I can guarantee you that you will be laughing of many funny actions or the language used by the character. Johnny Depp is still the soul of the movie. He is leading all characters and is the one who is controlling the action. Besides of its perfection, this movie has some illogical scenes and some missing plot elements. Those who are not really fans of Pirates of the Caribbean movies, will have a difficulty to understand who is the real enemy and what pirates’ life is all about and what they must do to protect Jack Sparrow.
The film is brilliantly filmed and I think is perfect for IMAX. I watched it in D-Box which basically means that the chairs were moving while the action of the film was depicted on the screen. It was worth it to watch it like this and I would highly recommend this experience. I really enjoyed seeing Kaya Scodelario, whom I have been a fan of since her Skins days. Brenton Thwaites, who you may know from The Giver, also delivers a good acting. If I were to give a mark for this film I would give it a 7 out of 10.
Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is out in cinemas everywhere !
