So Good by Louisa Johnson | Song Of The Day

louisa-johnson

Louisa Johnson is the 2015 X Factor Winner. If you’re not from the UK you might not have known that so I felt I should tell you. Anyway, as it happened with previous winners, there weren’t too many songs launched by her since winning the show on December 2015. Actually there were only 2: Tears, a collaboration with Clean Bandit and her latest single called So Good.

Judging just from these two songs I must say that I like her sound and her image is exactly what is expected in today’s musical context from a young female performer. I heard So Good being sung on The X Factor and it sounded as good as the recorded version. So well done for that. I  believe Louisa Johnson has what it takes in order to succeed in the music industry.

‘Doctor Strange’ Is Impressive |Movie Review

doctor-strange-from-film

Doctor Strange is a 2016 Marvel Studios Fantasy film, which basically means it is a superhero film. It is starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton as the main characters. A synopsis for Doctor Strange reads: “A former neurosurgeon embarks on a journey of healing only to be drawn into the world of the mystic arts“.

Without giving away too much, Benedict Cumberbatch is phenomenal. Although I don’t personally like him, I must say that after the performance in this film he won me over; he is one class actor. He seems he was born to play the role of the ex-neurosurgeon turned Sorcerer Supreme. Every cinema goer will love the action, humor, adventure and fantasy throughout the film.

I am always prudent when it comes to action/fantasy movies with big budgets. They generally seem to follow a certain pattern where the scenarios and scripts are so “déjà-vu” that I feel disgusted. Here, the story line is somewhat classic, but the humor and delivery style reminds me a bit of Ant-Man which I personally enjoyed.

I must say that the best point of this movie is the fact that the graphics are astonishing! Great CGI and on point artwork… you have to watch this in 3D to reach its maximum potential! I wouldn’t have it any other way that’s for sure. Visual entertainment at its finest, enjoy.

I highly recommend this film and I will give it a ranking of 8 out of 10. Go and watch it while it is still in the cinemas!

‘The Girl On The Train’ Is Captivating | Movie Review

the-girl-on-the-train-emily-blunt

The Girl On The Train is a 112 minutes Thriller that was released on 5 October 2016. It is directed by Tate Taylor, mostly known for The Help (2011) and Get on Up (2014). The Girl On The Train is starring Emily Blunt, Haley Bennett, Rebecca Ferguson, Justin Theroux and Luke Evans. A synopsis reads: “A divorcee becomes entangled in a missing persons investigation that promises to send shockwaves throughout her life“.

Going to watch this film I had high hopes, especially after reading the book by Paula Hawkins and I must say that it turned out  to be a great film. From the first second, with the first word spoken , you are completely drawn by this movie. I felt that by watching this I  was using my brain almost like it was me inside the movie and I was attempting to solve the mystery that appeared right before my eyes.

This film has a lot of drama and suspense moments and the acting of Emily Blunt is high class. I feel that it’s  going to  be a shame if you miss this film..I genuinely felt sorry for the main character, Rachel, almost as for a friend of mine who is telling me a sad story.I believe that someone who hadn’t read the book will feel like they just dont’t want to blink before they got all the facts straight.

I highly recommend this film and I believe it’s best to watch it at night as it will make your time more interesting and it will give you a lot to talk over with your friends. Some parts of the movie could have been made better comparing to how the book is written. The Girl On The Train is not as good as Gone Girl, but still I feel this is worthy of your time.

The Girl On The Train is out in cinemas everywhere !

Movie Review: Suicide Squad

suicide-squad-movie-characters-calendar

Suicide Squad is a 2016 action movie directed by David Ayer, mostly known for Training Day (2001) and Fury (2014). It is starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jay Hernandez, Jai Courtney, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Cara Delevingne,Joel  Kinnaman and Viola Davis. A synopsis reads : “It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?”

First thing I want to talk about is Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. She is amazing, she is exactly what I expected Harley Queen to be. She is also my favourite character from the squad.  Jared Leto is great, he is a very controversial pick as the Joker and I think reactions will be mixed. My opinion is that he was fantastic, but he did not get enough screen time. Then there was Will Smith as Deadshot, he was the main leader of the suicide squad.Viola Davis as Amanda Waller was probably the best casting. She was just so menacing and is such an amazing and talented actress. Ben Affleck as Batman appears in a small cameo. I wanted Batman to be more involved in the story though. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje plays Killer Croc and his performance was good, but wasn’t a stand-out like I was hoping. They didn’t really put him in it too much, but he was still good. I must say I was impressed with Diablo, who has in my opinion, the most badass powers in the squad . All in all, this movie had enough comedy and action to blend in to an amazing summer movie. I won’t compare it to Batman vs Superman or Captain America because it isn’t fair, they are all good in there own way. I highly recommend it. Go see this movie in theaters. It’s highly worth your time.

Movie Review: The Jungle Book

The Jungle Book is an adventure film that had its premiere not so long ago. It is directed by Jon Favreau, mostly known for the Iron Man movies and Chef (2014). The cast is formed by Neel Sethi, Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley,Idris Elba and Scarlett Johansson just to name a few names on the bill.
The synopsis for The Jungle Book reads : “The man-cub Mowgli flees the jungle after a threat from the tiger Shere Khan. Guided by Bagheera the panther and the bear Baloo, Mowgli embarks on a journey of self-discovery, though he also meets creatures who don’t have his best interests at heart”.I was happy to see at the cinema that there were more kids and young adults than grownups watching and I must admit that my favourite character in the film was Bagheera. I really appreciated how he protected Mowgli during his adventure. By watching The Jungle Book I felt like I was reliving my childhood and it was a pleasant experience. I highly recommend this film as I believe it can be enjoyable for any cinema goer. I would give this film a rating of 8 out of 10.
