Fifty Shades Freed is the third part of the Fifty Shades trilogy and is a 2018 Drama/Romance/Thriller that is starring Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Eric Johnson, Eloise Mumford, Rita Ora and Luke Grimes.. It is directed by James Foley (most known for directing At Close Range and House Of Cards). A synopsis for this film reads: “Believing they have left behind shadowy figures from their past, newlyweds Christian and Ana fully embrace an inextricable connection and shared life of luxury. But just as she steps into her role as Mrs. Grey and he relaxes into an unfamiliar stability, new threats could jeopardize their happy ending before it even begins”.
First thing I would like to say about Fifty Shades Freed is that it’s not a masterpiece and it has success, from my point of view, only on those who have read the Fifty Shades books, or on easy-impressionable women. I had the patience to read all the books before the first film came out and I must say I enjoyed this final part, more than the previous ones. Why, you might ask? Well, it’s simple: it definitely had more action and drama. And romance. A point worth mentioning is the fact that again the soundtracks represent the strongest part of this film, with hits from the likes of Rita Ora & Liam Payne, Hailee Steinfeld, Julia Michaels, Jessie J and Dua Lipa.
The film presents a love story – it is about broken people and the people that make them whole again! It is about true love and how hard you have to work to make it work sometimes. Take it for what it is. I really appreciated how the music enhances the movie. There are a lot of steamy sex scenes, so this film is not recommended for people under the age of 18. Just so you know. I think Eric Johnson is a splendid choice for the role of Jack Hyde, the villain in this story. I loved the fact that near the end of the film, there is a montage from the previous parts of the trilogy and the ending is just perfect with the most iconic song of the trilogy blasting out one more time. I’ll let you discover for yourself what song I’m talking about. It is a big one !
If I were to give a rating for this movie it would be a 7 out of 10. I enjoyed it and I encourage you to give it a chance. Who knows? You might like it too.
