[Contains some spoilers]

Set in the 1950s, a young Irish woman, named Eilis Lacey (Saoirse Ronan), emigrates to New York for a life with better prospects. Initially she misses home but gradually adapts to her new lifestyle and falls in love with Tony (Emory Cohen), an Italian plumber. When an unexpected event hits her family, Lacey decides to come back to Ireland for a short visit. Although she’s not planning to stay, she begins to settle back into her previous Irish life.

She reacquaints herself with old friends and a new love interest, played by Domhnall Gleeson, appears in her life. She is faced with the decision of a lifetime: to stay in Ireland where everything is so familiar or go back to Brooklyn, where her first love and a different life await her?

What I loved about this film is the fact that the chemistry between Eilis and Tony is natural, they actually look like a couple you might know in real life. The moments that show the journey Eilis takes to New York, then the advice she gets from a fellow traveler, are brilliant in my opinion, because they are raw, they present a reality.

Saoirse Ronan’s acting is first class: her delicate and sincere portrayal makes you think about all of Eilis’s struggles, wishing her pain will somehow ease. All in all, this film is a sweet, charming drama, with wonderful acting and plenty of touching moments. It is a splendid reminder that great stories can be told without using excessive twists and effects.

Ladies, ‘The Perfect Guy’ Doesn’t Exist | Movie Review

I went to see The Perfect Guy based on the trailers I’ve seen beforehand. I am a huge fan of thrillers, having seen hundreds. The plot is not extraordinary, but it is well executed. Starring in it is Sanaa Lathan, Michael Ealy and Morris Chestnut. I was surprised to see how well Ealy played the role of the psychopath Carter, having seen him in many films as the good guy.

I felt the actor mix is perfect and, even though some parts are predictable, I still enjoyed the film. I liked the main trio and their performances. Plus Sanaa Lathan looks amazing. This film can be considered a life lesson about trust and making choices in life, because you can never know what a person hides under a pretty face. Watch until the end, there are some interesting twists.

‘The Night Before’ – Seth Rogen Is Hilarious In Xmas Comedy | Movie Review

Seth Rogen is the ‘man’ in terms of comedy. He is brilliant and I have liked all the movies that this guy has made throughout the years. The Night Before is special and funny in its own way, it is filled with the classic adult and drug oriented jokes that Seth is known for. The film has great cameos and a great cast all around (big thumbs up for Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anthony Mackie). There is a short appearance of Miley Cyrus, who was brilliantly funny and her performance of ‘Wrecking Ball ‘ really added to the fun of the movie. Also expect to see another familiar face who has been collaborated with Rogen in the past years.

The Night Before is also a  heartwarming film that has some sentimental storytelling that just might make you a little misty eyed. It is a great story about friendship, about three friends really growing up in their own ways. I kind of wish the three characters, Ethan, Isaac and Chris Roberts, were my friends. They were awesome, each of them screwed up in their own way. But together they were strong and could face anything. Watching this film I got into the Christmas spirit and I can say I absolutely loved it. 10 out of 10 comedy.

The Night Before is out in cinemas everywhere now.

‘Carol’ – Exceptional And Honest | Movie Review

Carol is a great film that I had the pleasure to have seen recently. This is a must see for everyone loving good films. I am quite critical about films involving love between two female characters, but the way Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara portray their characters plus their on screen chemistry made me not want this film to end. The acting is top class from the before mentioned, but also from Sarah Paulson and Kyle Chandler. Rooney and Cate captured perfectly what it’s like to be falling in love.

As the story develops You’ll get taken away with how how their love for each other affects their lives. I believed the film presented the time period in a very unique and beautiful way. Nothing was overtly flashy or Normal Rockwell 50s. The film is stunning in terms of visuals, with impeccable make-ups and wardrobes, plus the beautiful locations covered in snow while Cate and Rooney take a trip. Finally, the soundtrack is tasteful, with songs that correctly set the tone of their relationship.Carol is out in cinemas everywhere !
