‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ Is Entertaining, But Not As Good As Its Predecessor |Movie Review

Kingsman the golden circle

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is a 2017 Action/Adventure/Comedy film that is starring Taron Egerton, Channing Tatum, Colin Firth, Halle Berry, Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore and Mark Strong. It is directed by Matthew Vaughn (who directed the first Kingsman film as well as Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class). A synopsis for this film via IMDb reads: “When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, the Kingsman’s journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US. These two elite secret organizations must band together to defeat a common enemy”.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle has something for everyone who has been a fan of the franchise. There is plenty of action, humor and special effects and I must say visually it’s very impressive. I keep wondering why the film hasn’t been shown in 3D. I think it would have been amazing. The plot is decent, especially for a sequel, but it never quite reaches the same level as the first film. The British/American theme works well and there are some very funny cultural jokes and references.

I am a fan of Kingsman; I had looked forward to watching The Golden Circle and I’m pleased that the sequel didn’t disappoint. It sticks to everything that made the first movie such a success, including taking some big risks and thinking out of the box. The end result is an imperfect and at times messy film, but a rewarding and highly entertaining one nonetheless. Julianne Moore is a great addition as the villain, and I absolutely loved the scene where Merlin sings John Denver‘s Take Me Home, Country Roads. It was funny and sad at the same time.

I can’t hide that I have a thing for Hanna Alström, who plays Princess Tilde and I was happy to see that her story had a happy ending. I hope there are going to be more Kingsman films in the future. It was great to see Halle Berry again in a big production, as I think she is a great actress. If I were to rate this film it would get a 7 out of 10. It is entertaining enough, but not as good as its predecessor. Go and watch it and judge for yourself.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is out in cinemas everywhere! Here’s a preview of what you can expect:

‘Victoria And Abdul’ Has A Great Story|Movie Review

victoria and abdul

Victoria And Abdul is a 2017 Biography/Drama/History film that is starring Judi Dench, Ali Fazal, Eddie Izzard, Michael Gambon and Adeel Akhtar. It is directed by Stephen Frears (most known for High Fidelity, The Queen and Philomena). A synopsis for Victoria And Abdul via IMDb reads: “Queen Victoria strikes up an unlikely friendship with a young Indian clerk named Abdul Karim”.

I was immediately drawn in and pleasantly surprised by the story. The fact that the film is a biography made the story even sweeter. Judy Dench‘s acting was flawless, but by far the biggest revelation was Ali Fazal, who put in a wonderful performance from comedic through emotionally intense. I found it interesting that the film tackles an issue that is relevant to today’s society as well: the racism. I was sad to see how Abdul and his wife were treated, but this has also made me realize that racism was always present in society and it will never disappear.

The story line is fantastic and it flows beautifully. The bond between Queen Victoria and Abdul Karim has to be one of the most unusual as well as greatest friendships in history. The soft and innocent friendship was enjoyable to watch from the dance scene to the walk shared in Florence. The film is a window into an interesting and rich part of history. It shed light on events that were unknown till 2010 and quite fascinating to learn and watch. The movie has nice doses of humor here and there to liven the film up. It was the meeting of two different worlds, on one side an aged ruler and on the other a low level simpleton who connected on a humane level,

Victoria And Abdul has to be one of the best motion pictures I’ve seen this year. If I were to rate this film it would get a 9 out of 10. It is a movie that can be enjoyed by everyone. I highly recommend it !

‘The Mountain Between Us’ Is Outstanding | Movie Review

mountain between us

The Mountain Between Us is a 2017 Action/Adventure/Drama film that is starring Idris Elba and Kate Winslet. It is directed by Hany Abu-Assad (known for Paradise Now and Omar).  A synopsis for this film via IMDb reads: “Stranded after a tragic plane crash, two strangers must forge a connection to survive the extreme elements of a remote snow covered mountain. When they realize help is not coming, they embark on a perilous journey across the wilderness.”

I would like to start off by saying that this is an extraordinary film. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and not knowing what was going to happen next was the best thing ever. The acting of the main actors, Idris Elba and Kate Winslet, was top class and they have a remarking chemistry on screen. I think this movie is so original and I can’t wait to watch it again. In my opinion, this was one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. What makes it stand out is the fact that it’s for everybody. There’s plenty of action, drama, adventure, romance, and more. The film was emotional, and exciting to watch.

I formed a connection with its characters, I became attached to them and was rooting for them, hoping they would be rescued. Besides the main actors, I also liked the dog who brings together Ben and Alex. I didn’t know that this movie is based on the book (of the same name) by Charles Martin, so I might give it a reading to compare it to the motion picture. I loved the way the film was shot and the sights that it presented were breathtaking . What you don’t see in the trailer is that The Mountain Between Us also delivers a love story. I think this was a clever marketing idea, because it gives the viewers the chance to discover this while watching.

If I were to mark this film, it would get an 8.5 out of 10. It is really outstanding, so it’s definitely worth seeing. The Mountain Between Us is out in cinemas everywhere! Here’s a preview of what you can expect:

The Soundtrack I’ve been obsessed about this weekend |Music

screen-shot-2017-05-31-at-11-34-29-am

In case you’re wondering where these images attached to this article are from, I have to inform you that they’re from a film that just came out in cinemas on Friday. It’s called The Mountain Between Us and it’s starring Idris Elba and Kate Winslet. It’s a brilliant movie that kept me in suspense throughout and I really hoped it would have a happy ending for all the characters involved.

If I got you intrigued, here’s a synopsis for this film via IMDb: “Stranded after a tragic plane crash, two strangers must forge a connection to survive the extreme elements of a remote snow covered mountain. When they realize help is not coming, they embark on a perilous journey across the wilderness.”

I won’t offer any spoilers, but I definitely recommend this film. Anyway, I would like to discuss a bit about the song that starts when the credits roll. It’s practically my new obsession: it’s a collaboration between Zayn Malik and SIA. I mean, I know SIA has nowadays a soundtrack in all popular films (remember Wonder Woman?, Lion?, and the list goes on), but a collaboration with the bad boy Zayn is on another level. You can listen to the Dusk Till Dawn below:

The first thing I would remark about this song is its extraordinary sound and how the voices of the two artists blend so well, making this song unique. In my opinion, everything that SIA released as a music video was a hit and this is also the case with this one.

I hope you liked this song, and if you enjoyed this article please hit like and share it with your friends.

Happy Death Day is a 2017 horror film starring Jessica Rothe, Israel Broussard and Ruby Modine. It will be directed by Christopher Landon (known for Disturbia, Paranormal Activity 3 and Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones). I am such a big fan of horror films (especially of those from Blumhouse- Get Out, The Visit, The Purge) and judging by the trailers this seems to be a good one. I can’t wait to watch this.

A synopsis for this film via IMDb reads: “A college student relives the day of her murder with both its unexceptional details and terrifying end until she discovers her killer’s identity”.

Happy Death Day is set for release in UK cinemas on October 20. Watch below a clip from the film, titled ‘Try To Solve Your Own Murder’:

‘American Made’ Is Spectacular |Movie Review

american-made-featurettes

American Made is an Action/Biography/Comedy film starring Tom Cruise, Caleb Landry Jones, Domhnall Gleeson, Jesse Plemons and Jayma Mays. It is directed by Doug Liman (most known for The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum and Edge Of Tomorrow). A synopsis for this film via IMDb reads: “A pilot lands work for the CIA and as a drug runner in the south during the 1980s”.

The movie is a blast from start to finish and had a ton of retro 80’s music, thing that I really enjoyed. Tom Cruise returns to form with some of his best work in the last 10 years outside the Mission Impossible franchise. It is a story inspired by real life events of Barry Seal, a pilot who plays a crucial role in the Iran-Contra Affair. In this film we see Tom Cruise return to familiar territory, where he makes us fall in love with a semi-good guy who does bad things, but this doesn’t stop the audience to root for him, because Tom Cruise is so charismatic and captivates us with his great smile. The supporting cast was quite good, but make no mistake the star is Tom Cruise and this film is meant to show everyone he still has it !

Always reliable if not exactly visionary, director Doug Liman has another entertaining outing with Tom Cruise, reinventing his charm, swagger and grin as tools for finding easy cash and marital respect when honest work doesn’t exactly get one far enough. I was fascinated by Sarah Wright, who plays Barry Seal’s wife, Lucy. I thought her acting was really good and authentic and I also have to admit that I was impressed by how beautiful she is. I look forward to seeing her in her future projects.Worth pointing out is also a stellar turn from a less prolific Domhnall Gleeson, whose ambitious CIA operator is equally blind, naive and brilliant, and Gleeson makes his oily presence wonderfully effective.

What I really love about American Made is that the action blends well with the comedy and at some occasions dramatic moments. I believe that this technique makes the film feel unpredictable, and instead of being tense, it becomes enjoyable. If you have watched and loved Narcos, then you will love this film as well, as you’ll get to see again some of  Pablo Escobar’s story from a different perspective. If i were to rate American Made, it would get a 7.5 out of 10. I highly recommend this film as it is spectacular !

American Made is still out, but in selected cinemas. Here’s a preview of what you can expect:
